Vision

Work for the peace and well-being of the city I have sent you to. Pray to the Lord for that city. If the city prospers, you and your families will enjoy the benefits also. Jeremiah 29:7

Greater Madison is changing so rapidly…and so must we!
Any church desiring to be an effective community church must be able to respond to the changing, Visionpressing needs of the community that it serves. We believe that FOL has been called to respond to the changing social, economic, academic, family and spiritual needs of our community. The essence of Jeremiah 29:7 is that churches exist to serve their neighborhoods and to seek their overall well-being…not just spiritual well-being. Our biblical mandate, then, is to engage in a sincere relationship with our community in order to find ways to meet its needs in meaningful and relevant ways that bring honor to our Lord and hope to neighborhoods. By doing so, we increase the presence and favor of God in our own lives and in the lives of our families.

We are excited about FOL’s Building Upon a Foundation of Faith campaign to build a much needed multi-purpose facility. This state-of-the-art facility will include a sanctuary/auditorium, a gym, classrooms/training rooms, offices, fellowship space and retail space! This new facility will also provide space for expanding Nehemiah’s programs and services to community residents. What makes this project especially exciting is that we purposely designed it to double as a community center for our neighbors in South Madison!

As a congregation, we have dreamed about these things. We have dreamed about economic development. We have dreamed of a Christian and multiethnic preschool and Kindergarten program. We have dreamed of an auditorium/sanctuary that would serve as a center of civic arts and performances for South Madison. And we have dreamed of a safe and exciting athletic facility that would be available to boys and girls everyday for positive recreation and organized sports. A member of our pastoral staff once said, “…this project is more than just bricks and mortar!” This is so true because in this process we are building families, we are building leaders and we are building a keener sense of community! We can do this! This dream can become a reality because it is well within our grasp.
