FAQ

Why is FOL building a new church and where will it be located?

We have outgrown our current space. With 250+ people worshiping on any given Sunday, our current building is too small. In 2005 we began to have two worship services per Sunday and upon out growing those started worshiping at Wright Middle School with the goal of returning to our property on Badger Road. Additionally, a number of our existing ministries are without space and unable to fulfill the vision we believe God has led us toward without added facilities.

In addition to a new church, development on the property on Badger Road will include space for Nehemiah Development Corporation and commercial space for lease.

What kind of project is planned?

In response to the feedback we received from the FOL Ministry Leaders we are planning a mixed use development that includes a sanctuary to seat 600 people, classrooms, office space, a gym, kitchen, fellowship space and 22,000 sq feet of commercial space.

When will the new building be ready?

Our projected timeline has us moving into the new building 2009-2010

How much is the new building going to cost and how will it be paid for?

First of all, this entire project is a walk by faith. We do not enter this expansion project assured of success because we have a great plan. Make no mistake, this will be a work of God, and when completed we will have a wonderful time of praise and worship to God for His gracious work in us and through us. We expect to be stretched as a congregation. Realize, however that part of the "fingerprint of God" on this building expansion has been how God has already provided for us in unique ways.

Current estimates place the cost of this project at $9,000,000. Raising this amount of money means we will need bank financing, as well as special gifts from all of our members and friends. These special commitments will be over and above our regular weekly offerings for current expenses and missions.

What can I do as a FOL partner to help?

Most importantly, PRAY! Make it part of your daily prayer that God would lead us through this building process and that we as a church and the building committee, would be at all times, lead by the Holy Spirit and inside His perfect will for this project. Make a commitment to support this project through your participation in the First Fruits program.

How can I begin to think about my gift?

Our gifts must be over and above our regular weekly offerings for current expenses and missions. For many of us our giving to the building fund will cause us to reevaluate our priorities. We are challenged to grow in our faith and generosity. We know our gifts will meet several specific needs of our church. All of us need to respond to this appeal generously to move forward with our ministry.

How can I make my gift to the building fund?

At the beginning of this project, we encouraged our members to make an initial gift and then a three-year commitment. Initial cash gifts are given at the time you make your commitment. The most common plan for fulfilling the three-year commitment is to make gift installments every week by indicating your contribution on the Building Fund line on your offering envelopes. However, gifts may also be given monthly or annually. The following giving table may helpful in planning your gifts. Here's how a weekly gift can grow in size over a three-year period:

Weekly Gift of Amounts to an annual gift of

$10.00 $520.00
$15.00 $780.00
